On refusal as a design method

How saying no becomes a spatial method before it becomes a manifesto.
Refusal is often narrated as attitude. In practice it is a sequence of spatial decisions: what not to open, what not to decorate, what not to photograph until the room is ready.
A method before a manifesto
Saying no early protects the plan. It keeps budgets from inventing rooms and keeps the cover from selling a lifestyle that the building cannot hold.
What we cut
Extra corridors, feature walls, and temporary trends. What remains should still feel generous. Refusal is not austerity; it is attention with a longer horizon.
